Ceremony in Kragerø
1909–1912 (
plausible)

Wove paper. 142 × 235 × 0,23 mm (h × b × t)
Comment:
The landscape here is clearly recognisable as a location from around Kragerø. See for example the painting M 286. But the situation or occasion depicted is far less certain. It appears as though people are sitting on the hill to the left, and that a kind of podium has been erected on the right, possibly with mourning drapery. One theory might be that a memorial ceremony was being held for Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson, who died in 1910. Since Bjørnson’s mother was born in Kragerø, it is not entirely unlikely.
