Wove paper. 136 × 103 × 0,13 mm (h × b × t)
Comment:For some years around 1920, Munch had a dispute going with his neighbour Gunnerud, whose watchdog had a rather broad idea of where the boundaries of his master's property ran. This fierce dog – as Munch saw him – became the object of a large number of rather exaggerated drawings and lithographs. For more, see the essay "The Punic War that Raged at Nedre Ullern".
Annotation by Artist:The dog has not done / anything but his duty / The boy was inside the fence / But it was / milk for you? - That makes no / difference - the boy was inside [pen, lower middle]
