Comment:
This page carries the following text: "Albenga is recommended / - most fervently - / between Genua [Genoa] and Nizza [Nice] / See Albenga and live EM / Live until you see Albenga / C.S. / E.M." The text appears to have been written by both Munch and Christian Skredsvig. They travelled together to France in the autumn of 1891, and Munch lived for a period in Skredsvig’s villa in Saint-Jean the following spring. They also made a trip together to Albenga, across the border in Italy. This schematic drawing of the island Gallinara off the coast of Albenga can just as well have been drawn by Skredsvig, but we include it here as amusing documentation of the friendship between the two artists.
