Comment:This sketchbook has been given the date 1922. Inside there is a text about - as well as a drawing of - the Milan cathedral. Munch visited this Italian city in connection with his exhibition in Kunsthaus Zürich in 1922. On page 17-recto the note "Dolder Grand Hotel / in Zürich" appears. This is where Munch stayed in May - June, during the preparations for the exhibition. (MB)
