The previous drawing depicts the motif "The Death of the Bohemian", which we know Munch worked on in 1915-16. There are also several paintings with this motif dated 1915-17. However, there are no known painted versions of "The Wedding of the Bohemian" before 1925-26, and with the exception of this drawing we have no indications suggesting that he began working on this motif as early as 1915. But since the drawing appears in the midst of a number of similar drawings that with great probability can be dated at 1915-16, it seems logical that this one should be dated accordingly.
